Data processed when accessing the website

When you use the website purely for informational purposes, i.e. when you do not register or provide us with information in any other manner (e.g. via a contact form), we will collect the following technical information (log file data):

  • The operating system of the device you use to visit our website
  • The browser (type, version and language settings)
  • The amount of data retrieved
  • The current IP address of the device you use to visit our website
  • The date and time of access
  • The URL of the previously visited website (referrer)
  • The URL of the (sub-)page you retrieve on the website
  • The Internet service provider of the accessing system

The collection of this data is technically necessary in order to display our website to you and to guarantee its stability and security. We (and our service provider dogado GmbH) do not routinely know who is behind an IP address. We do not merge the above-mentioned data with any other data.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. Since it is absolutely necessary to collect this data to make the website available and store log files to operate the website and prevent misuse, our legitimate interest in processing such data outweighs any other considerations in this regard.

The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for achieving the purpose for which it was gathered. In accordance with our security policy, this is generally the case after no more than four weeks.

If data is collected to the extent described in this privacy policy, it is absolutely necessary to do so in order to secure and operate the website. Accordingly, there is no option to object.

  1. The legal basis for processing the data

There may be various legal bases on which personal data is processed. If we require your data in order to fulfil a contract with you or respond to your enquiries relating to a contract, the legal basis for processing such data is Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR.  If we obtain your consent for the processing of specific data, the legal basis is Art. 6(1) (1)(a) GDPR.  We perform some data processing tasks on the basis of our legitimate interest, although our legitimate interest is always weighed against your interest in protecting such data. The legal basis in this regard is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. In cases where the processing of data is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are bound, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(1)(c) GDPR. We have set out below how we process your personal data via our website.

  1. Cookies

Cookies are files that are stored on your computer by a website you visit and permit renewed identification of your browser. Cookies are used to send information to the body using the cookie. Cookies can store various kinds of information, such as your language setting, the duration of your visit to our website or the data you have entered there. This will save you having to re-enter information each time you use the website – when filling in a form, for example. The information stored in cookies can also be used to identify preferences and gear content towards areas of interest.

There are various types of cookies: session cookies are sets of data that are only temporarily stored in random-access memory and deleted when you close your browser. Permanent or persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a set period, which can vary depending on the cookie. With this type of cookie, the information may also be stored in text files on your computer. However, you can delete these cookies at any time through your browser settings.

First-party cookies are set by the website you are currently visiting. Only this website may read information obtained from these cookies. Third-party cookies are set by organisations that are not the operators of the website you are visiting. Such cookies are used by marketing companies, for example.

The legal basis for the potential processing of any personal data by means of cookies and their storage duration may vary. If you have granted us your consent, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR. If the data is processed on the basis of our overriding legitimate interests, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR.  The stated purpose is then deemed to be our legitimate interest.

We use cookies to ensure correct operation of the website, to provide basic functions, to measure reach and – with your consent – to tailor our services to preferred areas of interest.

The cookies used on this website are ( Name | Provider | Purpose of processing | Legal basis for processing | Storage duration):

  • _ga | Google Inc. | To distinguish users as part of tracking activities by Google Analytics | Your consent | 14 months
  • _gid | Google Inc. | Contains a randomly generated user ID. Google Analytics can use these cookies to identify returning users and merge data from previous visits | Your consent | 24 hours
  • _gat_UA-38705506-4 | Google Inc. | If Google Analytics is provided via Google Tag Manager, this cookie is specified | Your consent | 1 minute
  • test_cookie | Google Inc. | This is set to test whether the browser permits the setting of cookies. It contains no identifying features. | Your consent | 15 minutes
  • IDE | Google Inc. | Contains a randomly generated user ID. Google can use this ID to identify the user across various websites and domains and display personalised advertising. | Your consent | 1 year

You can delete cookies already stored on your end device at any time. If you want to prevent the storage of cookies, you can do so via the settings in your Internet browser. Instructions for commonly used browsers can be found here: FirefoxGoogle ChromeGoogle Chrome mobileMicrosoft EdgeSafariSafari mobile. Alternatively, you can also install so-called ad blockers. Please note that some features of our website may not function if you have disabled the use of cookies.

Cookie consent with Webtoffee

When visiting our website, all users are also informed of the use of cookies by means of an information banner and made aware of this privacy policy. In this regard, you as the user will also be asked to consent to the use of cookies, particularly those relevant to the personalisation of services and any marketing measures. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future.

Our website uses the cookie consent technology of WebToffee to obtain your consent to the storage of cookies in your browser and to document this in accordance with data protection. The provider of this technology is WebToffee – Mozilor Limited 3 Warren Yard, Wolverton Mill, England (hereinafter WebToffee).

When you enter our website, a cookie from WebToffee is stored in your browser, in which the consents you have given or the revocation of these consents are stored. This data will not be shared with the provider of WebToffee.

The collected data will be stored until you request us to delete it or until you delete the cookies from WebToffee yourself or until the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. Mandatory legal retention periods remain unaffected. Details on data processing by WebToffee can be found at https://www.webtoffee.com/privacy-policy/.

WebToffee consent technology is used to obtain the legally required consent for the use of cookies. The legal basis for this is Art. (1) (1) (c) GDPR.

4.1 Advertising

We use cookies for marketing purposes to show users advertising geared towards their interests. We also use the cookies to limit the number of times an advertisement is shown and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising activities. This information may also be shared with third parties, such as advertising networks. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR.

4.1.2 Google Ads (previously Google AdWords), remarketing and conversion tracking

We use the service Google Ads. Google Ads is an online advertising program developed by Google LLC, (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The body responsible for users in the EU/EEA and Switzerland is Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland.

This means we display advertising by Google Ads and use Google remarketing and conversion tracking in the context of such advertising. The ads are displayed on websites that are part of Google’s advertising network following search queries. We also use remarketing lists for search ads. This enables us to adapt search ad campaigns to users who have already visited our website. The services give us the option to combine our ads with specific search terms or to show previous visitors ads in which services are promoted that the visitors have viewed on our website, for example. This allows us to show users of our website interest-based ads on other websites within the Google advertising network (as a ‘Google ad’ in the context of a Google search or on other sites).

Analysis of online user behaviour is necessary in order to show interest-based content. Google uses cookies to perform this analysis. Google sets a cookie on the user’s computer when the user clicks on an advertisement or visits our website. The duration of these cookies is set at 90 days. The information collected by the relevant cookies is used to specifically target the visitor when they perform a search query at a later point in time. You can find out more about the cookie technology in the information provided by Google on website statistics and in the data protection regulations. This technology helps Google and us as a customer to ascertain that a user has clicked on an advertisement and been directed to our website. The information obtained in this way is used solely for statistical evaluation purposes in order to optimise the ad. We do not receive any information that allows us to identify a visitor. Your IP address is sent to Google. However, since we use Google’s IP masking on this website for the purposes of using Google Analytics, your IP address is anonymised.

The statistics supplied to us by Google include the total number of users who have clicked on one of our ads and, where applicable, whether they have been redirected to a page on our website featuring a conversion tag. These statistics enable us to ascertain which search terms especially often led to users clicking on our ad and which ads lead to users getting in touch with us via the contact form.

If data is processed outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), we have agreed standard contractual clauses with the service provider to establish a secure level of data security comparable to that found within the EU/EEA.

You can find further information on data protection in the context of Google Ads at: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads?hl=de

The legal basis for the processing of data as described is your consent, Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR. Consent you have granted can be withdrawn at any time by changing your selection in the cookie settings (see above, Section 4, Cookies). Alternatively, you can delete your cookies (entirely or just those from this website). The banner with the selection options will then be displayed again.

You also have the option via the ad settings (https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated?hl=de) to select the types of Google advertisements or disable interest-based advertising on Google.

4.2 Website analysis

For the purposes of analysing and optimising our website, we use various services as set out below. We use these services to analyse how many users visit our site, establish which information is most requested and find out how users access the content. We also collect data on the websites from which a user has accessed our website (the so-called referrer) along with information about the subpages on the website that have been accessed or how often and for how long a subpage has been viewed. This helps us to display our content in a more user-friendly way, identify errors and improve the content.

4.2.1 Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a Web analysis service provided by Google LLC, (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The body responsible for users in the EU/EEA and Switzerland is Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland. The Universal Analytics service is running when users visit the website. This makes it possible to assign data, sessions and interactions across several devices to a pseudonymous user ID and thus analyse a user’s activities across all devices.

Google Analytics uses cookies that make it possible to analyse how you use the website. The information generated by the cookie about how you use this website is generally sent to a server maintained by Google in the USA, where it is stored. Due to the activation of IP anonymisation on this website, however, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the European Economic Area Agreement. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address sent from your browser within the scope of the Google Analytics service will not be merged with any other data by Google.

If data is processed outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), we have agreed standard contractual clauses with the service provider to establish a secure and appropriate level of data security comparable to that found within the EU/EEA. The parent company of Google Ireland, Google LLC, is based in California, USA. The possibility of data being sent to the USA and data stored by Google being accessed by the US authorities cannot be ruled out. In terms of data protection legislation, the USA is currently considered to be a third country.

Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate how you use the website, to compile reports on website activity and to offer the website operator further services related to the use of the website and Internet.
The data sent by us and linked with cookies or usernames (e.g. user ID) will automatically be deleted after 24 months. Data that has reached the end of its retention period will be automatically deleted once a month.

You can find out more about the Google Analytics terms of use and data protection at Google by visiting https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html or https://policies.google.com/?hl=de.

  1. Contact

When you get in touch with us by email or via a contact form, the data you provide (your email address and, where applicable, your name and telephone number) will be stored by us so that we can respond to your questions and process your enquiries. The legal basis in this regard is Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. If your enquiry relates to the formation of a contract (e.g. the rental or purchase of an apartment), the legal basis for processing the data is also the necessity of providing (pre)contractual services as per Art. 6(1)(1)(B) GDPR.

In instances where we ask for information in our contact form that is not required for getting in touch with you, we have always marked this as optional. This information helps us to narrow down your enquiry and improve the way in which it is processed. Any such information shared is expressly done so on a voluntary basis and with your consent, Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR. You can specify in our contact form whether you would like us to get in touch with you about your enquiry by email or by telephone.  You thereby consent to us getting in touch with you via this communication channel in order to respond to your enquiry. Needless to say, you can revoke this consent at any time.

The data received by us in the course of contacting you will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected or as soon as your enquiry has been fully processed and no further communication with you is necessary or desired by you.

As the controller legally responsible for data protection, our company has taken numerous technical and organisational measures to ensure the most complete protection of the personal data shared via this website. Nonetheless, the Internet-based transmission of data may be liable to security vulnerabilities. Absolute protection cannot be guaranteed. In any case, the sending of unencrypted emails is not secure. We would therefore ask that you do not send sensitive data by email. Instead, use either encrypted communication channels (such as our contact form) or the postal system.

  1. Data security

We have taken comprehensive technical and operational precautions to protect your data from accidental or wilful manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons. Our security procedures are regularly reviewed and adapted to keep pace with technological progress.

  1. Data transmission

Your personal data will not be shared with third parties for any reason other than the stated purpose unless we are legally bound to do so or the sharing of the data is necessary for managing the contractual relationship or you have previously granted us your express consent to share your data.

External service providers and partner companies – such as agents, suppliers or property management companies – will only be given your data if it is necessary for processing your contract/order. In such cases, however, the scope of the data shared shall be limited to the minimum required. Please also refer to the privacy policy of the relevant providers.

We attach importance to ensuring that your data is processed within the EU/EEA. However, there may be occasions when we use service providers who process data outside the EU/EEA. In such cases, we make sure that the recipient of your personal data has established an adequate level of data protection on a par with the standards within the EU before we send such data to them. This may be achieved, for example, by means of an adequacy decision, standard EU contracts, binding corporate rules or suitable guarantees such as standard EU contractual clauses.

  1. Your rights

We will gladly provide you with information as to whether and which of your personal data is processed by us and for which purposes (Art. 15 DSGVO).
